Film Review The Purge

As the audiences really starved for a horror film, Universal studios gave them just that with its micro-budget film starring Ethan Hawke. The strong opening received by the film also minted another box-office hit for “Paranormal Activity” producer Jason Blum.

However in comparison to the “Paranormal Activity” horror franchise, “The Purge” budget relatively is pegged really low at just merely $3 million making it incredibly lucrative release for Universal Studios. The studio had however planned to open it in the high teens.

“Never did we expect it to open at this level,” said Nikki Rocco, head of distribution for Universal. “This result could not have been forecasted by anybody.”
