UNESCO to ensure safety of Journalists

The UN cultural agency UNESCO has given assurance that it will take steps to extend greater protection to the world’s journalists. UNESCO is supported by numerous international press freedom organizations.

The UN agency’s report stated that 121 journalists were killed worldwide in 2012. The fact that this time around the number of death’s are almost twice as compared to the death’s from 2010 and 2011.

UNESCO made the announcement as part of its observance on World Press Freedom Day. It’s the target of UNESCO and its partner organizations to enhance safety and fight for crimes committed against journalists.
