A gruesome injury took place at the Midwest Region final on Sunday at an N.C.A.A. tournament.
After Louisville’s Kevin Ware got himself injured with an open fracture in his right leg in the first half, everyone stood shocked. About four players were there in center court while others appeared weak. Other people in the stadium were crying and praying. As Coach Rick Pitino was in tears, players on the bench said a prayer for Ware.
This however didn’t stop Cardinals from registering victory over Duke’. While Ware was being treated on the floor, a cart carried him later to the hospital. The injured Ware called his teammates, but they could’nt hear him. To call the teammates, Pitino had to yell.
“Guys!” said Pitino. “He wants to say something.”
Russ Smith, Peyton Siva, Chane Behanan, Wayne Blackshear and Gorgui Dieng all stood around Ware. It was then that Ware said in tears, “Just win it for me, y’all.”
