A new controversy has surrounded the killing of Osama bin Laden with contradicting claims by a Navy SEAL who said that he pulled the trigger.
Esquire magazine has published an interview in February with a man referred to as “the shooter” only. He said that he had shot the al-Qaida leader twice in the head on May 1, 2011 in his Pakistani hideout. The commando said that Osama was alone when he entered the third floor room of his Abbottabad hideout.
The CNN national security analyst Peter Bergen, who is an al-Qaida expert, has dismissed that account and considers it false.
