Sony’s Xperia Z that was taken up well in the international markets was launched in India on Tuesday. Sony employed aggressive marketing strategies that lead to the phone’s visibility on almost all fronts i.e print, web and television. Xperia Z has been priced at Rs. 38990/- by Sony making it the flagship device offered by the brand.
Katrina Kaif has been roped in as the brand ambassador for the phone and the Advertisement is both aired on TV and YouTube. The marketing and communications budget that has been fixed by Sony for Xperia Z has been fixed at 300 crore to help the phone pick-up in Indian Market. DigiTimes also reported the sold out in pre-order bookings for the phone in important tech markets of France, Germany, Hong-Kong, Taiwan and Japan.
Sony is planning on taking up his market share in Smartphone segment up to 30 percent in the financial year of 2013-14. The Japanese electronics giant has about 11 models in its smartphone portfolio at a price range of Rs. 8500 to Rs. 39000. The number of distributors of Sony all over India stands at 3000 which it’s planning to take up to 8000 by the end of this year.
