Cardinals come together in Rome for electing new Pope

The roman cardinals have attended a special mass recently as preparations for election of the new pope are underway. The 115 cardinal-electors also heard choirs in St. Peter’s Basilica to receive some divine signals.

The secret electoral process will begin Tuesday in Sistine Chapel where the cardinal’s shall vote 4 times in a day till 2/3rd of majority votes in favor of any particular candidate. The need for electing new Pope arose after Pope Benedict XVI resigned.

The reasons given by Pope XVI for resigning from office included his deteriorating health condition. Pope also said that he no longer has the strength to lead church which is facing problems such as child sexual abuse allegations and corruption in Vatican Bank. There no single candidate in the run-up to becoming Pope who can be termed as a frontrunner.
