Perfectionist of the Impressionist style, Pablo Picasso’s painting “Women Seated by a Window” is going to be auctioned on 5th February at Sotheby’s in London.
Although according to the estimates the “Women Seated by a Window” has a worth of around €40Mn but Sotheby’s is hopeful of garnering even more from the painting.
“Women Seated by a Window” is actually the portrait of Picasso’s muse Marie-Therese Walter that was finished by the artist in 1932.
“Most of the examples from this year and of his Marie-Therese subject are in museums around the world. So, it represents a real opportunity for a collector to buy a museum quality painting coming out of private hands.” said Helena Newman, the Chair of Impressionist and Modern Art at Sotheby’s London.
The artworks from Austrian artist Egon Schiele are also going to be up for auction during this auction. However, the record set by Schiele with his cityscapes during one of his auctions in 2010 at Sotheby’s London, stands at €25Mn.
