Dairy sector lawmakers in US in support of temporarily extending farm law to avoid dairy prices increase


House Agriculture Committee Chairman Frank Lucas and Senate Agriculture Committee Chairman Debbie Stabenow are supporting temporary extension of a farm law that expired on Sept. 30 raising conditions which in the opinion of Obama Administration could raise milk prices in US by as much as 100 percent.

Lucas told reporters from the house floor, “I would hope that as soon as is humanly possible, a decision will be made to allow us to take action” He also said, “We need to take positive action, put this issue to rest, and make sure that it is clear to everybody in this country that the farm bill policy has certainty and that we will not have $8 or $9 milk.”
