14 year old teen activist in Pakistan shot by Taliban for raising voice against rule prohibiting girls from going to school

The failure of Pakistan government in dealing with extremists is out once again for the world to see. Malala Yousufzai who is a 14 year old activist working towards creating awareness on women emancipation and other issues facing her country by way of blogging about it.

It is Taliban that has resorted to violence in silencing the dissent voice of Malala in Pakistan. The shooting incident has however caught attention of people in an area where extremism and terrorism is part of the everyday life.

The incident has been criticized extensively on the social media, radio and television. People have termed the Taliban act as cowardly and blamed government for not dealing with the nuisance of terrorism effectively. Columnist Sami Shah of the Express Tribune has expressed her outrage at the event saying, “I blame the Taliban, first and foremost,” and “I blame the government. All of it.”

Malala undergone surgery on Wednesday and recuperating from the bullet wound in her neck slowly.  The incident however took place on Tuesday when Taliban Militants stopped the van carrying three girls including Malala to drop them home after school. The school is however situated in the conservative Swat valley in north-west Pakistan.

All this has been done for comments made by Malala regarding Taliban’s policy to stop girl from getting education and going to school on her blog.

In one of the blog posts, Malala herself said, “I was afraid going to school because the Taliban had issued an edict banning all girls from attending school.”

Heavy security has been levied outside the hospital where her treatment is going on, whereas Taliban has reiterated its stance of continued attempts to kill the girl till she is dead.

As a blogger, I strongly abject to such incidents taking place to anyone in any country whatsoever. It is totally beyond the acceptable human values that bind us all on this planet.

    1. Life isn’t all about happy endings, some people have to take up the courage of speaking out and putting themselves at risk for the many others to live peacefully..
