On 12th August, 2012 people on foot and on vehicles are both going to begin their journey from the Tijuana–San Diego border for a social cause. The excursion is undertaken as part of the newly constituted peace movement to put an end to US supported drug war. This caravan is going to visit as much as twenty five countries of the US by ending their trip at the Washington D.C.
The initiative is given the name “Caravan for Peace” and aims at finding an answer for the relatives of the 10000 missing, 60000 deceased and about 160000 misplaced since the onset of US action in 2006. Pentagon, CIA and US Drug Enforcement Agency however also kept on asking for increasing the strength of Mexican armed forces for all these years.
Well known Catholic poet Javier Sicilia, 56 is leading the whole movement after her son Juan Francisco got killed in crossfire in Cuernavaca in March, 2011. Sicilia formed Movement for Peace with Justice and Dignity (MPJD) and resolved not to write poetry any longer after the incident. Sicilia however wrote a painful piece of work titled “Estamos Hasta La Madre!” that means “fed-up” in English. In Spanish slang the expression means “insulted our mother protector, they’ve committed a sacrilege,” according to Sicilia.
We wish our best to the “Caravan for Peace” in its journey for ending the unrestrained bloodshed.
